School Nurse Evaluation is an area that generates many questions from administrators and school nurses.
This advice comes from Jessica Gerdes, RN, MS, NCSN, PEL/school nurse, Illinois State Board of Education, Division of Specialized Instruction, Nutrition and Wellness, Principal Consultant (school nursing, health, physical education, health education). (email, October 7, 2015)
Although school nurses undoubtedly have examples of where they have promoted student growth, and similar so do other PEL licensed school support personnel, the ISBE rules specifically pull out the SSP staff from the definition of teachers related to the requirement regarding need for accountability in student growth as a condition of their evaluations. See definition of teacher, page 8, Rule 50. http://www.isbe.net/rules/archive/pdfs/50ARK.pdf
