2019 IASN Foundation Awards

FOUNDATION  AWARDS  GIVEN TO IASN MEMBERS 2019

This year we are awarding $6,900 in various grants, scholarships, and awards

 

Lois Frels Research Award – $500

Eileen Moss

  • Research done as part of her DNP Program at UIC – “School Nurse Websites: National Needs Assessment”
  • Eileen is a school nurse for the New Lenox School District 122 and an adjunct faculty at UIC School of Nursing

Achievement Award:  – $150

 Emily Banks and Ashley Clark

  • School nurses for the Springfield Public Schools District 186
  • Emily and Ashley developed and implemented a staff education program to train other district nurses, coaches, and staff on the protocol and classroom implications of concussions

IASN Foundation School Nurse Certification Grants:

$800 plus admission to the IASN Conference


Cindy Limento

  • School Nurse for the Champaign Unit 4 Public Schools
  • Cindy is enrolled in the UIC School Nurse Certification Program.
  • She is involved with Action For Healthy Kids, her district wellness committee, Champaign Co. Christian Health Care Center, and serves as her building union rep.

Stephanie Nichols

  • School Nurse for the Rockford Public Schools District 205
  • Stephanie recently completed the UIC School Nurse Certification Program.
  • She is involved with her district’s Nursing Building/Problem Solving Committee and nursing PLC’s.  She helped revise the district’s Lice Policy.

 

Foundation Awards Established by Former IASN Divisions:

 

DuPage Valley PEL Grant – $1,000 


Samantha Harris

  • Classroom Nurse for the Naperville Public Schools District 203
  • Samantha recently completed the UIC School Nurse Certification Program.
  • She runs self-esteem groups at her school and serves on the Local Adolescent Suicide Prevention Committee.

Marquette-Kaskaskia PEL Legacy Grant – $1,200


Cheri Whitman

  • Special Education School Nurse for the Bethalto Unit School District 8
  • Cheri is enrolled in the DePaul School Nurse Certification Program
  • She is involved with the Make Good Choices Program in her district.

           

North Lakes PEL Legacy Grant to attend UIC  SN Certification Program – $2,000


Ashley Jaskowski

  • Registered nurse for the Winnetka Public Schools District 36
  • Ashley is enrolled in the UIC School Nurse Certification Program.
  • She created a plan to help students deal with stress at her school and volunteers with Feed My Starving Children

Northwest IASN Conference Attendance Scholarship 

$150 to attend the IASN Annual Conference

 
Cheryl Erickson

  •  Cheryl is a Certified School Nurse for the Rockford Public Schools district 205   

 

We still have several grants and awards that were not applied for this year.

     -Margaret Winters Memorial Scholarship for graduate education related to school nursing

            $1,500 plus IASN conference admission

     -Lake Shore/Calumet Valley PEL Legacy Grants (10 available)

            $1,000 towards a School Nurse Certification program

     -North Lakes PEL Legacy Grant to attend Lewis University

            $2,000 to attend the School Nurse Certification program
