Nitty Gritty School Nursing: Care of Children with Medical Complexity

Location : UIC College of Nursing Simulation Lab
Learn and practice skills in the UIC College of Nursing Schwartz Simulation Lab.
Nurses will receive instruction on common skills required to care for children with medical complexity. Skills include:
- Clean Intermittent Catherization; male, female, stoma
- Tracheostomy Care and suctioning
- Feeding tubes
- Central Venous Catheter Care and dressing changes
Prior to the workshop participants will receive copies of skills checklists and narrated PowerPoints to prepare for the workshop.
At the workshop participants will receive hands-on-instruction and practice the skills with supervision in the simulation lab.
Participants will be requested to complete a pretest prior to the workshop and complete a posttest and workshop evaluation prior to receiving nursing continuing education credits.
Up to 6 Continuing nursing education credits have been applied for from the Illinois Nurses Foundation.
Attendance is limited to 30 participants – ONLY 8 SPOTS OPEN AT THIS TIME!
