Nitty Gritty School Nursing: Care of Children with Medical Complexity – School Nurses Workshop

Location: UI Springfield College of Nursing Simulation Lab
Nurses will receive instruction on common skills required to care for children with medical complexity. Skills include:
- Clean Intermittent Catheterization; male, female, stoma
- Tracheostomy Care and suctioning
- Feeding tubes
- Central Venous Catheter Care
Prior to the workshop participants will receive copies of skills checklists and narrated PowerPoints to prepare for the workshop.
At the workshop participants will receive hands-on-instruction and practice the skills with supervision in the simulation lab.
Participants will be requested to complete a pretest prior to the workshop and complete a posttest and workshop evaluation prior to receiving nursing continuing education credits.
Up to 6 Continuing nursing education credits hours have been applied for from the Illinois Nurses Foundation in accordance with ANCC criteria.
Cost: $50.00/IASN MEMBER & $65.00/NON MEMBER
